01 / The Place
Sal's Alleged Pizza is a corner pizzeria on Detroit Avenue in Cleveland. Thin crust, baked in a deck oven. The sauce is crushed tomatoes, salt, and oregano, and nothing else. The dough is made fresh each morning and used the same day.
The oven is the original, in since 1986, kept running by one repair tech in Parma. It's the same pizza it was in 1987, which is either the point or the problem, depending on who you ask.
